  • Thank You Governor for giving me the desire to become part of the political process once more. You're a person with integrity, smart without having to show your intellect as so many in Washington do.
Governor, there is a grass roots effort building in the states for you. Not someone like you, but for you.
You seen it in the crowds that came to see you and there are many more who couldn't come but are behind you.
There are many that are jealous. Many want to bring you down. The media is one example because you refused to bow down to those that thought they were gods.
You bring the fight for the average citizen. Many want to help. i know I do and I am registered as an independent. I left the Republican party for the changes that they made. In you I see what I was once proud to be.
I voted this year because of you. I voted Republican. You are the reason I want to become part of the political process once more.
    Thank You

  • On March of 2004, my life was forever changed; I adopted a pair of brothers one of which has HIV/AIDS. The two children entered into my life through being a foster parent. Well four years ago, I adopted two little boys; their names are Khristopher who is (13) and Kameron who is (7) soon to be eight. Khristopher is my son with AIDS since the age of two. My son not only has a high-count viral load he also has dementia, lesions and teenage hormones.

Khris visits his AIDS doctors (Theresa Barton, Octivio Ramilo) at Dallas Children’s Hospital (ARMS CLINIC). psychiatrist Dr Denis Atkins( Cooks Children’s) monthly, and therapist Dr. Sam McCage therapy every two to three weeks as an effort to keep up with his condition and how it is progressing. During his most current visit, his psychiatrist and I discussed his need for residential care. Because with in the last year Khris mental health is suffering his mind is getting worse and he is doing abnormal things, he is not handling adolescents well at all. His judgment is off he is doing inappropriate things in public, has become very aggressive at home .and in day care. Khris condition is starting to consume the whole family his seven year old brother is helping me to look after him, this should be the other way. The psychiatrist and I agree it is time to look into residential care.

In my search, I have found there are all kinds of services for adults, and teen drug users but nothing for HIV/AIDS, children of any age. There needs to be something done to assure the families of these children there are resources available for them. Society thinks they have done something for these children when they give them there last wish, and toys. The children still have other needs no one has even thought about for both them and their families. My dilemma is there is no relief out here outside of medication.

There was a resource that has been lost because of budget cuts. My help the Bryan House a place for children with HIV/AIDS, where they provided day care, Respite and other resources for families. All they can give at this time is Day Care Services. Texas Department of Human Services does not have anything to offer. I have spoken to a supervisor there and all she could do is give me a few names she had found on the internet. She should have been able to steer me to a place that would be able to help. What are we suppose to do when the children need more than we are able to provide. Do we send and return our children to them for care? There is nothing out here I am afraid it is going to get the point my son will have to be returned. Is not the point of adopting a child is to love, care, and nurture how can you do that with your hands tied, I don‘t want to give him up. Help is desperately needed I am a single parent. In addition, my unspoken promised to him is that everything humanly possible will be done for him as long as he lives.

You always hear about HIV/AIDS and the usual concerns adult drug user, homosexuals, unsafe sex, but nothing about the children that are born with the horrible disease, not one thing, no long-term care resources. However, you can find care for the adults. Why there aren’t more resources for children, adopted, and foster children with HIV/AIDS? A friend of mine had to give her daughter back to the state when she started acting out and she could not get her under control. She may have been able to continue with the child if there had been resources available.

Get out there please and let the world no there are children in America who need help as much as the children in foreign countries. We spend more time helping people away from home that we neglect our own. Do misunderstand I am for helping any one in need but that is after I have taken care of home.

Support and services to children with HIV/AIDS are needed, residential care when they are mentally unable to function without assistance and Respite for the parents.

I am asking you to get out there for us let the government and the people know we have a serious need, one that will not go away. Texas just does not have what it needs, we do everything big here in Texas I guess people are right. We are not caring for our AIDS children and their families in a big way.

Call, e-mail, and mail, me, just tell me what it will take to do something about this situation. Families deserve the right to try to stay together.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,

PS My numbers are 817/323/9497, 817/944-2229

  • Dear Senator Sanders,

I am writing because Gen. Romeo Dallaire and I would be very pleased if you would agree to become a member of the project developed by Gen. Dallaire and myself titled "The Will to Intervene" and referred to by us as " W2I" in order to emphasize that this applied research project will result in the creation of major tools to operationalize Responsibility to Protect (R2P) principles. We intend to conduct sixty very high level, off the record interviews in the US and Canada to assess why the Clinton and Chretien administrations refused to intervene in Rwanda in 1994, while they supported intervention in Kosovo in 1999, and to determine the techniques of mobilization and the most effective arguments that NGOs, major media figures, politicians and bureaucrats can deploy in the future to ensure the nuanced application of R2P principles by the United States and Canada to prevent future genocides and major crimes against humanity. In addition to a final, peer-reviewed report, we will also deliver focused handbooks for senior leaders of key NGOs, major media outlets, politicians, and high level civil servants.

At this stage, aided by funds from Concordia University and other sources, we have advertised for a lead researcher and will be reviewing applications and arranging interviews after 20 July, when I return to Montreal from the International Assoc. of Genocide Scholars conference in Sarajevo. The ad is on line at: http://migs.concordia.ca/LeadResearcherW2I.htm

I am sure you would like to know what your role would be as a member of the Research Steering Committee (RSC).

RSC meetings will be held in Montreal at Concordia University quarterly, to advise and guide the research on the W2I project. RSC meetings will serve as forums for the discussion of strategic issues and for technical issues in which one or more of the members of the RSC has a particular competence

You would be invited to attend only those Montreal meetings that pertain to your particular expertise

We would like you to agree to be contactable outside those meetings to provide general direction in solving research problems

The project is planned for the years 2007/2008. If you agree to serve on the RSC, we will be pleased answer any questions and to send you a formal letter of invitation. Your colleagues on the RSC will include retired senior diplomats, academics, high level civil servants, NGO leaders, and others.

I am looking forward to your reply and hoping to work with you on W2I. I have admired for many years your effective, humanistic work in Congress. By way of belated introduction, I am the co-author of THE HISTORY AND SOCIOLOGY OF GENOCIDE: ANALYSES AND CASE STUDIES (Yale Univ. Press, 1990) and the former president of the International Assoc. of Genocide Scholars. I am also a Prof. of History at Concordia and the Director of its Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. Gen. Dallaire is our Senior Fellow and a full partner in this applied research project. Long ago, I was a colleague at Texas A&M University of Prof. Neil Stout, now retired from the Univ. of Vermont Dept. of History. We are still good friends.

I would like to send you an outline of the Will to Intervene Project, but need an address that will receive a Word attachment.

    All the best/Frank Chalk

  • Dear Senator:

We would like to give a word of thanks for your CONTINUED resistance of any form of AMNESTY. The Bills #S1348/1639 before the Senate are frauds and a betrayal of the people.

You are to be highly commended for your Patriotic Populist Position. Keep up the good work.

    Pray for our Country,
